Yamaha YEP-842ST Euphonium

Yamaha Custom Euphonium (YEP-842ST) boasts a radical new design that combines all the majesty of the past with the wonders of modern technology. It has the most fluency between notes, most accurate tuning, the thickest, richest sound, the best valve action, and ergonomics of any euphonium. It's also one of the best looking euphoniums with the best silver plating job. It was just a 'MAESTRO' model (also an amazing Eupho) with some fancy gold plating and a nicer case. The YEP-842S is a true improvement/upgrade of the 'MAESTRO', in fact about 20% better in all aspects of performance. The thinner bell material in the instrument is largely responsible for the improvement. These instruments just sing and project with unparalleled ease.

The Yamaha YEP-842ST Custom Euphonium boasts a radical new design that combines all the majesty of the past with the wonders of modern technology. It has won instant acceptance by every player fortunate enough to have tried it, including some of the world's greatest masters. This is an instrument that has begun to redefine the very meaning of the word "Euphonium." It's the start of a new tradition.

This Euphonium, the YEP-842ST Custom Euphonium from Yamaha are in my opinion is the absolute finest of Euphoniums available. Are you sick of those awfully sharp high F's, F#'s and G's and you have to push down the 4th valve to get them in tune, then split the note? Upon playing one of these instruments for the first time, it was clear that I was honking on something special. These instruments are about as close to perfect as I've ever seen in a brass instrument. Some other manufacturers have settled in their euhponium designs to solve the upstairs intonation problems with another trigger that moves the tuning slide out. Yamaha didn't settle for this, they went back to the drawing board, re-vamped the design, and just simply made the instrument in tune. Good thinking.

This accurate tuning featured exclusively on the Yamaha compensating euphoniums is just one of many of the improvements that make the instruments great. The euphonium has the most fluency between notes in any euphonium, the most accurate tuning of any euphonium, the thickest, richest sound of any euphonium, the best valve action and ergonomics of any euphonium etc. etc. It's also one of the best looking euphoniums with the best silver plating job I've ever seen. I was sceptical as to whether or not it was just a 'MAESTRO' model (also an amazing Eupho) with some fancy gold plating and a nicer case. The YEP-842S is a true improvement/upgrade of the 'MAESTRO', in fact about 20% better in all aspects of performance. The thinner bell material in the instrument is largely responsible for the improvement, these instruments just sing and project with unparralelled ease. Do also if you have the chance to see and play one, try the stock mouthpiece the 53HL. Gooood mouthpiece, somewhere between a Bach 4G and 3G but with a backbore suited to the Yamaha euphoniums (funny that). I just love this instrument, and I'm saving hard.-DW
