If you can look past the fact this Alexander F-horn has had a very colourful and eventful life you may find a very excellent playing instrument in this consigned Alexander single French-horn.
As a testimony to Alexander’s dominance in the French-horn market, this single F horn has a fantastic core of sound and playability. A few of our regular horn teachers have tried this instrument and were pleasantly surprised. Here comes the BUT... This instrument has significant signs of damage and repair. The bell quite clearly has been squashed at some point in its life and the bell has split on the inside and on the bell bead. This damage has been repaired, and I would wager this is an old repair, but cosmetically it is how it is. There are many other signs of dents and repair throughout, but the bell area is the main localised damage.
No mouthpiece included. Our guess is 1960’s/1970’s as a build date. The horn is in raw-brass and it includes the original hardcase. We have serviced the horn but have not completed any other repair work. The valves are fast, and the instrument plays great.
