Dont, Kreutzer, Rode: three of the outstanding violin teachers of the 19th century are united here in one title. Rodolphe Kreutzer and Pierre Rode each wrote epoch-making collections of etchings at the beginning of the 19th century (see HN 1177 and HN 1186); as an introduction to these two standard works, Jakob Dont wrote in 1852 his extremely helpful 24 preparatory exercises, Op. 37, in which to date no violinist passes the lesson. Their success is also reflected in the fact that numerous revisions by violinists such as Hans Sitt, Carl Flesch or Ivan Galamian appeared in the 20th century. For the first time, the original text edition of the G.
