Denis Wick Classic Cornet Mouthpieces Gold Plated.
The Classic is the original design. This gives clarity, precision, and a very easily controlled, centred sound. It adds more brilliance and richer upper overtones than the convex outer profiles of other designs. The Classic design is very responsive and easy to play. It has excellent flexibility and a rich tone. The Classic range covers the complete range of brass instruments from soprano cornet to BBb tuba. Classic mouthpieces are available in either gold or silver plate.Denis Wick is best known known not as a brilliant player, but for his mouthpieces and mutes.
Years of careful and unrelenting research, infinite patience and, as he says, "an element of luck",
have produced one of the most succesful series of products in the world of brass music.

Gold and silver mouthpieces have a different feel. Some players prefer the extra ‘grip’ that silver gives, but others prefer the softer, warmer feel of the gold. Players often comment that the gold finish gives them more flexibility and makes slurring and playing legato passages easier. Gold is more expensive, but many players think it is worth the extra investment; here are three reasons why:
- Denis Wick mouthpieces have the best gold-plating available. The mouthpieces are plated with a heavy gold deposit of no less than three microns thickness. The gold used is 22 carat and produces a beautiful playing surface and a wonderful, rich colour.
- The gold gives brass players extra flexibility in their performances.
- If you have a polished silver instrument nothing looks better than a gleaming gold mouthpiece!
Gold is a soft metal, so if you have a gold mouthpiece make sure it is protected at all times.
- Buy a mouthpiece pouch to keep the mouthpiece safe when not in use.
- Never use any abrasive to polish the mouthpiece.
- Warm, soapy water, a soft cloth and a mouthpiece brush are all you need to clean a gold mouthpiece.
- The gold never corrodes and never needs polishing.
