Yanagisawa have a long history of creating innovative and exciting products for saxophonists, including the world's first soprano sax with a detachable neck, and horns built either partly or entirely from sterling silver. Their latest innovation is the BooStar - a high mass, weighted neck screw, which is customisable in size and weight to player preference.
Included in the packet is the weighted screw itself, along with 2 different sized additions which can be attached to the screw to further increase size and weight. Yanagisawa claims that the addition of this screw helps to make the instrument "smooth blowing, making moderate resistance and voluminous sound throughout the register... Customising the Yany BooStar will offer different timbre and feeling. You can choose the best combination to meet your playing style or music style."
If, like many of us here at the shop, you've always been sceptical about adding weighted implements to your instrument, head in to one of our stores and try it out for yourself! Contact your closest Ozwinds store to organise a test play in one of our practise rooms, and discover for yourself the difference one of these screws makes.
Please note: For Yanagisawa and Selmer saxophones. Different brands may have slightly different screw threads, so give us a call before ordering if you'd like to confirm if this will work with your instrument
The Yany BooStar is capable of enhancing resonance and delivering a thicker tonal palette. When installed, it also allows you to set just the right amount of resistance and achieve smoother breath control. Your horn will have more tonal focus and volume in all registers.
In addition to the basic “Screw A”, adding a “Screw B” or “Screw C”, which are different weights allow for 3 kinds of customization.
Customizing the Yany BooStar will make different timbre and feeling. You can choose the best combination to meet your playing style or music scene.
The Yany BooStar is available for all saxophones soprano to baritone.
