The Protégé features a professional finish, undercut tone holes, a New Traditional Barrel and Backun Bell. Water resistant black Valentino pads, an adjustable thumb rest with neck strap ring, and a durable backpack case rounds out an impressive list of features at an even more impressive price.

Protégé clarinets use the same naturally aged grenadilla wood as Backun’s flagship clarinets, allowing you to play with the warm, alluring tone you’d expect from their high-end models. This grenadilla body is coated with a dark professional finish, giving it a striking look that brings out the Protégé’s glistening keywork. With its silver-plated keys, the Protégé simply feels good to hold, giving you the freedom to sweep across all registers of the instrument in perfect comfort. The Protégé’s keys are also tailored with water-resistant black leather pads, ensuring the clarinet’s longevity while also adding subtle touches to its overall look.
