I must admit I was precarious when I approached the Yamaha Xeno trumpet. I had selected two models to play... the one with standard crook and with a reversed leadpipe. I had played a Morrison and Bobby Shew trumpet in previous times and had discovered while they play jazz fairly well the classical tone suffers. This was not the case with the Xeno series... the jazz tone wasn't as prominent but the classical tone was near second to none. The response was not too great, probably a little less responsive as the Bach LT series. I prefered the reversed leadpipe model because it was free-blowing a little more responsive and being a big bore player on medium-large bore instrument, this was fantastic. I would recomend the Xeno to people who play classical more than jazz and the reverse lead-pipe is desirable.
