This model Yamaha was my personal pick. I've been a professional Trumpet player for over 20 years. I am more a Session and Jazz player and Educator. (though I do have to demonstrate Grade 7 and 8 AMEB pieces to my students) I've had a variety of Yamaha Trumpets since the late 80's. I have played most of the Yamaha models in the 6335 and 8335 seriesof late. I felt this model Xeno (8335G2) was well balanced and It's intonation was spot on. I felt the tone was round and centered accross the full rangeof the Instrument and it had a full even tone even when played at very low volumes.
But don't think for a second that you need a reverse leader pipe Trumpet to have a Jazz horn this model can sizzle easily with a bit of volume! Which I was pleasently surprised !
I grew up on listening to James Morrison during the 90's and even his famous Snappy Doo album had been recorded with his signature 6335 Trumpet.
So all I'm saying is blow one of these and make your personal decsion. But for me this horn is one of Yamaha's finest! A really great all rounder. Loving it !
