In the orchestral scene at the moment there seems to be one underlying question: Strad or Xeno.
I've recently been shopping for a C trumpet, and ended up buying the Xeno over the strad as it had better intonation, responce, and projection. Though, I found Strad Bb trumpets to be far better than the Xeno Bb.
That doesn't mean that the Xeno isn't a good horn, it has great projection and intonation - this is a very good horn. Perhaps it is just me, but when you pick it up off the shelf, it just feel really generic, like it was put together by robots in some factory with no care or passion. This mens great quality control, but very little character - it's just more inclined towards the Vizutti fans rather than the Miles fans.
But see what you think - It's a great quality horn.
