The Backun Bell, with standard Voicing Groove, was designed to meet the needs of student and intermediate players by improving the overall tone and response of the instrument. Can a bell really do this? You have to play and hear it to truly appreciate the difference. Grenadilla vs. cocobolo wood
Backun offers a range of clarinet bells in both classic grenadilla and exotic cocobolo woods. Each type of wood has unique characteristics that affect your clarinet’s sound differently. Grenadilla is the same type of wood used to make most clarinets today. It offers a deep, punchy sound with more volume and projection. Then there’s cocobolo wood, which is identified by its brighter red coloration. Cocobolo tends to give your clarinet a warm, dark tone and a lighter feel that’s ideal for solo and chamber music. All the woods used for Backun products are naturally aged in their climate-controlled facility in Vancouver, Canada.
